February 22, 2005 NHHN on federal budget 2005: Time for feds to show "housing matters" and deliver on its pledge of $1.5 billion
The federal government has just wrapped up a month-long consultation on housing and homelessness that it has called "Housing Matters". The slick media campaign accompanying the consultation stresses: "It all begins with an address."
"Federal budget 2005 is the chance for Paul Martin to deliver on his election promise of an additional $1.5 billion for new social housing," says Michael Shapcott, co-chair of the National Housing and Homelessness Network. "He can show that housing truly matters with a substantial down payment on a new national housing strategy." For more information, contact TDRC at tdrc@tdrc.net -30- |
