Homeless Man Found Dead
in Jack Layton’s Riding

 
A Native homeless man was found dead this morning in a bus shelter at Gerrard and Broadview Streets in Jack Layton’s riding.  This man had found the body of another Native homeless man about a year and a half ago in the same area.  This brings the number of homeless deaths up to ten in the past eight weeks.

*The first eight of these ten deaths have been confirmed by the coroner's office in Toronto.

Cathy Crowe will be addressing the number of deaths in the homeless community at a press conference, Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 11:00am at the Human Rights Monument at Elgin and Lisgar, in Ottawa.

TDRC and the Church of the Holy Trinity will be holding a vigil on Tuesday, June 8 2004 at 12 noon to honour these ten individuals.
