closing of Out of the Cold beds
Monthly memorial for homeless deaths
Tuesday, April 13, 2004 * 12 noon
Church of the Holy Trinity
(behind the Eaton Centre, Dundas and Yonge)

The name of Donald Wesley, a homeless man who died on the streets of Toronto, will be added to the names of more than 300 other homeless people at the monthly memorial for homeless people who died on the streets of Toronto at the Church of the Holy Trinity (behind the Eaton Centre at Dundas and Yonge Streets) on Tuesday, April 13, at 12 noon.

The monthly memorial, co-sponsored by the Church of the Holy Trinity and the Toronto Disaster Relief Committee, will include a vigil, poetry and a meal for the homeless.

Sister Susan Moran, a founder of the Out of the Cold Program, will also be at the memorial to warn about the consequences of closing that program. Out of the Cold provides overnight shelter in church and other faith community basements during the winter months to ease the crush on Toronto’s homeless shelter system. Out of the Cold beds will be closed as of mid-April.
