Noon About 150 members of CUPE Local 4308 provide programs to adults, children and youth as well has home support services to seniors and persons with disabilities and services and supports to homeless persons in the Cabbagetown area. They have been waging a strong battle for the important community services that they provide in downtown Toronto as homeless shelter and housing workers, personal support workers and child care workers. “Members of the community are disappointed that the Board of Central Neighbourhood House has allowed this strike to continue without making a reasonable offer to the striking workers,” said Cathy Crowe, RN, a member of the Steering Committee of TDRC. “We are calling on the Board to negotiate in good faith with these community workers so that they can get back to doing the extremely important work that they do.” TDRC is urging members of the community, as well as agencies, groups and organizations, to come out and show support for these striking workers and the important work that they do.
